10-Men Forest End Chelsea Winning Run

Chelsea was forced to share points at home with ten-men Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge. Chris Wood opened the scoring for the visitors after they had played a goalless draw in the first 45 minutes of the game. The 32-year-old striker Wood slid in a finish past Robert Sanchez after a good set-piece routine involving James Ward-Prowse and Nikola Milenkovic four minutes after the start of the second half.

But Chelsea responded quickly as Madueke equalised eight minutes later after cutting in on his left foot and shooting, his fourth such effort having had the beating of left-back Alex Moreno. The visitors had one of their players sent off. Referee Chris Kavanagh sent off Ward-Prowse for deliberately handling the ball to stop a Chelsea attacker Nicolas Jackson counter-attack in the second half. The Englishman we already on a yellow card before committing the foul so he was shown a second yellow and red card.

The game looked tough after key players in Chelsea got injured so they had to look to their bench to win the match. They brought in Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and Pedro Neto to win the game with a man advantage, but Palmer had two chances well saved by Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels and Felix headed an effort wide in stoppage time.

Chelsea’s five-game winning run has ended but they remain unbeaten in the league since the opening match of the season when they lost to Manchester City. Nottingham Forest on the hand, are undefeated on the road in six matches, their longest in almost 29 years.
