Nigerian singer Skales, born Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, recently spoke out regarding the key players in his rise to fame, dismissing claims that Wizkid, his former label mate, or Burna Boy had contributed to his success.
Skales, who began his career alongside Wizkid at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) in the 2010s, acknowledged only a few specific figures who offered crucial support: Banky W, Olamide, Timaya, and Burna Boy.
In response to fan speculation, Skales stated that his career trajectory was shaped not by Wizkid’s involvement but by the guidance he received from other industry veterans.

“Put some respect on my name… The only people who helped me were Olamide, Timaya, and Banky W. Much respect to Burna… You guys love to see artists go against each other, but I’m setting the record straight,” he emphasized.
Skales also expressed his frustration with ongoing rumors and comparisons, urging fans to appreciate artists independently. “I’m focused on making music and avoiding negative, toxic nonsense,” he wrote.
This declaration aims to dispel misunderstandings around his journey and redirect attention toward his music.
While fans on social media continue to debate his comments, Skales remains resolute in his dedication to his craft, choosing to step back from any further controversies or comparisons with his peers.
