It is another bitter story for Nigerian neighbors Ghana missed out on the 2025 AFCON tournament. This happened they played out a 1-1 draw with Angola. Leicester City striker Jordan Ayew scored for Ghana in the first and they headed into the halftime break with a smile.
It became bad as they could not continue the smile when they returned. Angola got an equalizer much later forcing Ghana out of the qualifiers.
The draw left Ghana bottom of the table, four points adrift of Sudan in the second qualifying place, with one round left, and AFCON finals absentees for the first time since 2004.
While Ghana were eliminated, minnows Comoros and Mali, Zambia and Zimbabwe qualified, swelling the list of countries heading to Morocco to 19, leaving five places up for grabs.
While many will say Ghana did not do well, we will like to make it clear that they were without eight of their original squad due to injuries.
