Super Eagles of Nigeria skipper William Troost-Ekong has been removed from the CAF player of the year nomination list. The list was initially hd ten players contending for the prestigious award has been cut down to five.
William Troost-Ekong Missing in New CAF Award Nominations
The new list has one Nigerian, one Moroccan, one South African, and one Guinea player. Ademola Lookman however made it to the list and he is the only Nigerian on the list.
In the first list William Troost-Ekong and Ademola Lookman made the ten man list but now only Lookman is on the list. CAF cut down The ten man list to five and now no country has two players on the list. The five man list includes Ademola Lookman, Simon Adingra, Achiraf Hakimi, and Ronwen Williams.
CAF unveiled the final five-man shortlist on their X handle today Monday and it has got many talking. One of the players listed that has raised eye brows is South African goalkeeper Williams, many are on the opinion that if the goalkeeper is on the list then Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is also supposed to be on the list.
The omission of the Super Eagles skipper name came as a shock aster they omitted Victor Boniface name in the first ten man list.
Nigerian fans are happy regardless though as Ademola Lookman looks favourite to win the award. The Nigerian has been very impressive since last season, he won the Europa and scored three goals in the final and he also did well in the last AFCON tournament.
