Mr. Macaroni Blasts Tinubu’s Administration Over Hypocrisy and Economic Hardship

By Fasuyi Tolulope Samuel

Comedian and activist Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, has sharply criticized members of President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he calls “tone-deaf” criticisms of past governments.

Highlighting the hypocrisy, he argued that officials of the current administration have no moral authority to blame previous leaders, given their failure to address the severe economic struggles Nigerians face.

In a fiery social media post, Macaroni maintained that only everyday Nigerians, who bear the brunt of poor governance, have the right to hold leaders accountable—both past and present.

“I no send any Nigerian Politician,” he wrote. “Only the People have the right to call out or criticize any Politician or government, past or present!

Not Spokespersons of the current Government who continue to use billions to buy Cars and Jets while Nigerians are languishing in poverty.”

He accused the administration of living in luxury while ordinary citizens endure poverty, highlighting a stark disparity.

Macaroni also condemned loyalists of the current government who defend such excesses, accusing them of enabling impunity.

A Systemic Issue

The comedian contended that both current and past administrations share responsibility for the country’s deteriorating state.

However, he lambasted the Tinubu government for attempting to distract the public from their mismanagement by shifting blame to predecessors

.“Those that hold the whip now cannot criticize others that once held the whip because the crime of flogging Nigerians is one and the same,” he said.

Macaroni accused the government of using its influence to dictate how and when Nigerians should voice their discontent, despite being at the root of their suffering.

An Unequal Reality

The activist further painted a vivid picture of the chasm between Nigerian politicians and the masses. He pointed to officials’ access to state-funded luxuries, like private jets and personal security, which shield them from the real-world consequences of their policies.

“They are immune to pot holes, hikes in fuel prices, or food costs—they don’t feel your pain,” Macaroni lamented.

He also noted their disregard for the nation’s crumbling security, citing how ordinary citizens face theft and violence while politicians enjoy DSS protection.

He called for Nigerians to abandon tribal and religious sentiments, urging unity in holding all leaders accountable for Nigeria’s decline.

Call for Collective Responsibility

Macaroni’s message ended on a solemn note, questioning Nigerians’ loyalty to the nation rather than politicians.

He urged citizens to focus on the broader goal of national success and generational equity.

“Politicians will come and go!! Only the Nation will remain provided we really want it to.”

Mr. Macaroni’s comments add to the growing discontent with the Tinubu administration, which has been grappling with mounting criticism over its handling of the economy and its failure to alleviate widespread poverty.
