Nigerian singer Tems has apologized after unknowingly promoting her show in Rwanda amid the ongoing conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
She expressed regret, saying, “I never ever intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologize if this came across that way.
I simply had no idea this was going on. My heart goes out to those affected. Conflict is no joke and I truly hope and pray for peace in this time.”

The Rwanda-DRC conflict, fueled by M23 rebel activities, has led to severe humanitarian crises, displacing thousands. The situation remains tense, with international efforts to broker peace ongoing.
This isn’t the first time Tems has been entangled in controversy abroad. In December 2020, she and fellow Nigerian artist Omah Lay were arrested in Uganda after performing at a show that allegedly violated COVID-19 restrictions.
Despite the event being publicized, Ugandan authorities detained the artists, sparking outrage from fans and industry figures.
During the ordeal, Tems accused Ugandan singer Bebe Cool of orchestrating their arrest, claiming he was seen laughing with police officers while they were held. After global backlash, both artists were released two days later.
Many fans have reacted to the latest update by the music star with some saying her post is a case of once beaten twice shy.
Tems is undoubtedly one of Africa’s finest songstress and music writer. She had her global breakthrough after been featured by Wizkid in the hit song, ‘Essence’.
