Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again made headlines with a controversial statement about his approach to relationships.
In a viral video, the singer claimed he uses spiritual means to control women he is interested in.
“If I see a woman I like, I will tie her down spiritually. Whenever I don’t like her again, I will release her,” Portable declared.
The self-proclaimed Zazuu Zeh crooner, known for his unfiltered opinions, also criticized women who refuse to take their partner’s name despite being supported financially.
“You don’t need to wait for a man to marry you before you change your name to his. I am the one feeding you throughout the year and you refused to drop your father’s name. Where were you when I was nothing?” he questioned.
Portable further defended his decision to take only his wife to London, leaving behind his other women. He emphasized that she stood by him through difficult times, making her deserving of the priority.
“My wife stood by me through thick and thin. She is the one in charge of my property. Let me take her to London, she will be the first to go. She is always in her lane and she is my future,” he stated.
The singer, known for his energetic performances and controversial lifestyle, stressed that even if he married into a wealthy family, his wife must take his name.
“Even if I marry the daughter of the richest man, she must drop her father’s name. I am a star. When I was poor, no lady loved me. Let me respect the one that loved me then,” he added.
Portable, who rose to fame with his breakout song “Zazuu Zeh” featuring Olamide and Poco Lee, has remained a controversial figure in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
From feuds with fellow artists to run-ins with the law, he constantly makes headlines for his bold and sometimes outrageous statements.
