Tems Pays Tribute to Seyi Sodimu After Grammy Win with “Love Me Jeje”

Nigerian music sensation Tems has once again made history, winning the Best African Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards with the song ‘Love Me Jeje’.

The globally acclaimed singer edged out stiff competition from Asake ft. Wizkid (MMS), Burna Boy, and Chris Brown ft. Davido (Sensational) to clinch the prestigious award.

The song that earned her this accolade was a modern rework of Seyi Sodimu’s timeless classic, “Love Me Jeje.”

In a heartfelt gesture, the Grammy-winning artist took to X (formerly Twitter) to appreciate the legendary singer for his support and contribution in clearing the song’s rights.

“I just want to thank the wonderful @seyimusic for his role in the support and clearing of his OG song Love Me Jeje. It’s brought the original song back to life for me, and I’m glad that it’s getting its flowers today. A timeless classic. I appreciate you so much. Thank you for your love and support 🙏🏿✨.”

The veteran singer, who also made an appearance in the music video for the song, played a significant role in bringing the project to life according to Tems.

This latest Grammy victory cements Tems’ position as one of the most influential African artists of her generation.

Since breaking into the international scene, she has continued to push boundaries, collaborating with global stars like Drake, Future, Beyoncé, and Rihanna while staying true to her Nigerian roots.

The beautiful song which won her another Grammy award made the list of top songs in 2024 by President Barrack Obama of the USA.

Her Grammy win for Best African Performance further amplifies her impact on the global stage, proving that African music is not just trending—it’s here to stay.
