Funke Akindele Mentions Supportive Colleagues Before Rise to Fame

Renowned Nollywood actress Funke Akindele shared the challenges she faced before her rise to fame.

Currently vacationing in Ghana with fellow actress Eniola Badmus and content creator Kamo, Akindele opened up about her humble beginnings in a viral Snapchat video.

She recounted how she often borrowed outfits from her colleague, Sikiratu Sindodo, to appear presentable on movie sets. Akindele stated, “I remember back then when I used to borrow dresses from Tayo Sindodo. Sindodo would help me choose nice ones from her tops if I was going to a movie set.”

Akindele also highlighted the unwavering support from her peers during challenging times. She mentioned an incident where Sindodo advocated on her behalf after she was denied a role.

Additionally, she praised Iyabo Ojo for her kindness, recalling, “Iyabo would say, ‘Don’t worry,’ and she would drive us around in her small red car. We found solace in one another. That’s how we became friends. Iyabo used to stand up and fight for me.”

Reflecting on her journey, Akindele emphasized the importance of perseverance and the value of supportive relationships in the industry.

As of 2024, Funke Akindele’s net worth is estimated to be around $7.2 million, making her one of the wealthiest actresses in Nigeria. She is the producer of the highest grossing Nollywood movies today which include ‘Battle on Bukayo Street’, ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’, ‘Tribe of Judah’ and the over #1billion grossing ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’.
