Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has showered praise on music sensation Yemi Alade for proudly representing African culture through her outfit at the 67th Grammy Awards.
In a heartfelt video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, February 5, Agu lauded Alade’s cultural expression, hailing her as a “beautiful queen” and a role model for young women.
“Yemi Alade, you are a queen. The queen you think you are,” Agu declared. “She may not have won the Grammy, but she won my heart. If there’s nobody to say it, I, Chief Chiwetalu, will give you your flowers.”

Emphasizing her role in promoting African heritage, the Nollywood icon highlighted the significance of Alade’s Grammy ensemble.
“Not only did she represent Afrobeat, but she also represented African culture. Through her attire at the Grammy Awards, she is putting African culture on the world map. Her outfit was screaming, ‘I did not come to impress you, I know my roots,’” he said.
Agu further praised Alade’s talent, discipline, and humility, describing her as a natural beauty and a role model for young girls.
“We talk about how decent and natural she has been as an artist. Or how beautiful she is as a woman. The body is tea. How talented, disciplined, reserved, established, and humble she is as a lady,” he added.
Closing his message with a warm blessing, Agu expressed admiration for Alade and wished her well in her personal life.
“Yemi, keep on being the role model you are to so many young girls. Chief Chiwetalu admires and loves you so much. I pray you find your Johnny at the right time.”
