Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Dominic has addressed a fan’s comment regarding her absence from the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), which took place on Saturday, May 10, in Lagos.
When a fan expressed hope to see her at next year’s event, Dominic replied, “I haven’t attended since 2018. 😆 Well, we’ll see.”

Dominic, a celebrated figure in Nigerian cinema, last graced the AMVCA red carpet in 2018, where she was nominated for her role in “Big Fat Lie” . Her response has sparked discussions among fans about her potential return to the prestigious event.
The 11th edition of the AMVCA celebrated outstanding achievements in African film and television. Femi Adebayo and Chioma Chukwuka clinched the Best Lead Actor and Best Lead Actress awards, respectively, for their performances in “Seven Doors” . The film also secured accolades for Best Score/Music.
Another standout at the ceremony was “Lisabi: The Uprising,” which garnered multiple awards, including Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa), Best Makeup, and Best Art Direction .
The AMVCA continues to be a significant platform recognizing excellence in African entertainment, and fans eagerly anticipate whether Rita Dominic will make a return in future editions.
