Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has denied throwing shade at fellow actress Biola Bayo following the latter’s announcement of her separation from her husband.
Speculation arose after Laide shared a cryptic post on social media that some interpreted as a subtle jab at Biola.
The post read: “All of us will eat breakfast. Asiko lo ma ya to. Good morning, people.”

The phrase “eat breakfast” is a popular Nigerian slang often used in reference to heartbreak or breakups, prompting many to link it to Biola’s marital crisis.
However, Laide swiftly addressed the claims, asserting she was unaware of Biola’s situation at the time of her post. According to her, she was preoccupied with celebrating her daughter’s graduation in California.
“Let us all be guarded, please. It’s still June 5th here in America—California, to be precise. I can never shade my own sister @biolabayo. My prayers are with you. I didn’t get any updates. I was busy with @slimline’ graduation. Trolls are evil,” she wrote in response to the backlash.
Laide further expressed solidarity with Biola, describing her as “sister” and condemning online trolls for twisting her message and stirring unnecessary drama.
“I can never shade my own sister,” she reiterated, making it clear her intentions were misinterpreted.
Biola Bayo had earlier confirmed her separation from her husband in a heartfelt social media post, prompting an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues across the industry.
The two actresses are well-known in the Yoruba movie scene and have shared a cordial relationship over the years, which made the rumors of tension particularly surprising to fans.
