Nigerian singer and songwriter, Simi, has condemned the actions of airport staff who filmed and shared an indecent video of Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson.
In a post on her Instagram Stories, the award-winning artiste expressed outrage over the incident, stressing that the same energy used to address Emmanson’s misconduct should also be applied to punish those who violated her privacy.
According to Simi, someone recorded the moment Comfort was forcefully removed from the aircraft, capturing footage that exposed her indecently. The video was then uploaded online without any form of editing or censorship.

“If we are treating one madness, punishing Comfort, we must also not forget to sanction the indecent exposure of the officer as well,” Simi wrote.

Her comment comes in the wake of public debate surrounding the incident, which has sparked conversations about passenger conduct, the responsibilities of airline staff, and the ethics of sharing sensitive footage online.
Many social media users have echoed Simi’s stance, arguing that regardless of a passenger’s behaviour, filming and distributing such footage constitutes a breach of privacy and human dignity.
Simi, whose real name is Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, is not only celebrated for her soulful music but also for speaking out on social issues. Over the years, she has used her platform to advocate for gender equality, better governance, and the protection of human rights.
In 2020, she was vocal during the #EndSARS protests, calling for an end to police brutality in Nigeria. She has also campaigned against sexual abuse, encouraged young women to speak up against discrimination, and challenged societal double standards.
