France star player Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Real Madrid came from 1-0 down to Ligue 1 side Marseille in their Champions League opener. Los Blancos were handed an early blow when Trent Alexander-Arnold suffered a hamstring injury after only three minutes.
They also suffered another set back Arnold’s replacement, Dani Carvajal, was sent off with 18 minutes left to. Before then, the games was 1-1 as the visitors opened the scoring in the first 22 minute of the game. Thanks to Timothy Weah, he opened the scoring for Marseille beating Thibaut Courtois with a powerful strike after Mason Greenwood pass.

But their lead lasted just six minutes as Mbappe, who had come close to scoring in the early stages with an acrobatic bicycle kick, converted his first penalty. Former Arsenal and Chelsea player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came close to scoring twice but failed to find the back of the net.
The second came after the referee judged a Marseille’s player for hand ball and awarded a penalty. Kyliam Mbappe maintain his cool and converted the goal. Mbappe has now scored 50 goals for Real Madrid since his arrival last season.
The La Liga leaders will travel to Kazakhstan to face Kairat on 30 September in their next Champions League game, while Marseille host Ajax on the same night.
