Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has broken her silence on swirling rumours about her HIV status, setting the record straight by publicly sharing her latest test result.
The controversy began after a content creator, Olaoluwa Segun, published a viral video naming Dayo Amusa among five Nigerian actors allegedly living with HIV.
The claims sparked widespread conversation online, prompting the actress to respond swiftly. In a statement shared on her social media page, Amusa dismissed the allegations as “false and malicious”, insisting there is no truth to them.
She reminded her followers that as far back as 2019, she had already publicly disclosed her HIV-negative status during a health awareness campaign.

According to the actress, the earlier disclosure was never meant to hint at any personal health struggle but was part of her effort to encourage Nigerians to know their HIV status and break the stigma associated with testing.
“This is not the first time I am addressing this issue. In 2019, I made my HIV test result public to raise awareness. It was to encourage people to know their status, not because I had any issue,” she explained.
Amusa further threatened legal action against Segun for publishing unverified information that could damage her reputation.
The actress on Tuesday shared a photo of her most recent HIV test result on Instagram, which again confirmed that she is not infected with the virus. In her caption, she went beyond clearing her name, urging her fans and Nigerians at large to embrace regular HIV testing as part of their health routine.
“I still feel the need to encourage individuals to get tested and know their HIV status. It is better to know your status so that you can guide yourself and save others too,” she wrote.
