Actress and former Big Brother Africa housemate, Beverly Osu, has opened up about the lingering effects of a controversial moment from her past that has continued to shape public perception of her.
In a heartfelt interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Osu revisited the infamous 2013 Big Brother Africa scandal involving South African dance teacher, Angelo Collins.
Osu firmly denied ever having sex with Angelo during their time on the reality show, countering the long-standing rumours that emerged after their close relationship in the house.
“I have people that love me for who I am. And the highlight of it is that, I didn’t do it [have sex on reality show]. I was 20… I brought out so many things from Big Brother other than that [my relationship with Angelo],” she said.
Expressing her frustration, Osu shared how the scandal unfairly overshadowed her contributions and personality on the show. “I was so irritated because that was the only thing viewers picked because I was in love. Literally, it was love.
All my problems in life come from love.”The actress didn’t shy away from expressing how deeply she felt for Angelo, describing their relationship as one rooted in genuine emotion rather than publicity or promiscuity. “I was madly in love with Angelo and got too comfortable around him, which led to the rumours,” she explained.
“I was dating na, make we tie gele? I was in love with him.”Osu reflected on how that relationship, and love in general, has shaped many of her life’s challenges.
“Every problem that I have had in this life is because of the greatest gift of God; love,” she emphasized. Now over a decade since her stint on the show, Osu continues to be defined in part by that narrative, but she is gradually reclaiming her voice and story — focusing on growth, healing, and the truth of her experiences.
