Bishop David Abioye, the presiding pastor of Living World Conquerors Global Assembly, has taken a strong stance against men who wear earrings and plait their hair.
The clergyman described such fashion choices as a threat to their dignity and masculinity.
In a sermon that has since gone viral, the cleric questioned the rationale behind men adopting styles traditionally associated with women. He argued that men should uphold cultural and biblical standards in their appearance, as this reflects true royalty and manhood.
“Kings are recognised for royalty, mentally and physically. Stop behaving like a street boy, including your appearance. Don’t dress carelessly. Royalty is synonymous with kingship,” Abioye declared.
He emphasized the importance of self-respect and presentation, urging men to carry themselves with distinction and honour.
“Carry yourself in a manner that when people see you in public, they see something unique about you. Even in the system of the world, you don’t see people in positions dressing anyhow,” he added.
The Bishop expressed concern over what he sees as a growing trend among young men to adopt appearances that blur traditional gender lines, stating it goes against both scripture and cultural norms.
“Putting earrings on as a man, what are you doing with it? Plaiting your hair as a man, what are you doing with it? I know many young people won’t like what I’m saying, but I have to show it to you from scriptures and from culture. Even if you don’t know scripture, behave culturally,” he said.
He challenged men to embrace their identity as designed by God, warning against dissatisfaction with one’s God-given gender.
“What is fitting is fitting. God created you as a man, for those of you who are men. Why would you like to be a woman when He created you like a man? Why aren’t you satisfied with the way God made you?” he asked.
