Veteran entertainer and activist, Charly Boy, has responded to the recent renaming of a popular Lagos bus stop that once bore his name.
The bus stop, located in the Bariga area of Lagos, was officially changed to “Olamide Baddo Bus Stop” in honour of award-winning rapper Olamide, a native of the community.
The announcement was made on Friday, July 25, by the Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA), sparking mixed reactions online.
While some hailed the decision as a worthy recognition of Olamide’s contributions to Nigerian music and Bariga’s cultural image, others viewed the move as politically motivated, speculating that it could be linked to Charly Boy’s vocal criticism of the current administration.

In a cryptic but spirited response, Charly Boy took to social media and posted an image accompanied by the caption:“Bus Stop or no bus stop, Fada no dey finish. Go verify. Dia Father’s left Nyash.”
While the renaming has stirred conversation, it is not unusual for notable individuals to be honoured with place names in Lagos. Among those who have had bus stops named after them are music legend King Sunny Ade and the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Charly Boy, whose real name is Charles Oputa, has long been a cultural icon and activist known for his flamboyant personality and fearless socio-political commentary. His statement reaffirms his enduring relevance despite the symbolic shift.
