Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has firmly debunked fresh rumours of his death, assuring fans that he is alive, healthy, and ready to outlive his detractors.
The false report, which surfaced on Facebook, claimed that Agu had passed away after battling diabetes and undergoing spine surgery. But in a video posted on his Instagram page, the legendary actor dismissed the claims as baseless and condemned those responsible for spreading them.
Expressing his frustration, Agu said he was shocked at how quickly people believe unverified reports. He accused some bloggers of pushing such news purely for attention.
“All because of likes, views, and comments, a blogger wrongly announced my death. They posted ‘RIP’ with my pictures. Let me shock you: Chief Chiwetalu Agu Okenmirin’ezoru1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State, is not going to die any time soon,” Agu declared.
In a dramatic statement, the 68-year-old actor vowed to live long enough to witness the downfall of his enemies.
“Instead, I will be the one to bury my enemies. The one who digs a pit will fall inside; the one who digs a grave will fall into it. I am going to carry my grandchildren,” he said.
Agu urged fans and family members to disregard the false news and report the page of the blogger who started the rumour.
“Fans and family, please disregard any rumors about my death, and kindly report the page of the blogger who started spreading them. I am very much alive by God’s grace,” he added.
This is not the first time the actor has had to address such claims. In 2020, Agu also faced similar death rumours, which he swiftly debunked, warning fans to always verify information before sharing.
The actor’s response has sparked relief and admiration from his followers, many of whom flooded his comment section with prayers and well-wishes.
