Popular actor and skit maker Abdulgafar Abiola, better known as Cute Abiola, has opened up about the struggles and discipline he experienced while balancing life as a naval officer and a content creator.
In a recent interview on HipTV, Abiola described his time in the Nigerian Navy as a defining chapter of his life, calling it “the most critical part of my life.”
He revealed that during that period, he juggled intense military duties with his passion for entertainment, often working six days a week and still producing comedy skits consistently.
“I’ve done a lot of things that were more tough than my current situation,” Abiola shared. “I used to be in the Nigerian Navy. That time was the most critical part of my life, and I was still able to achieve shooting content and being in the Navy. That was very, very hard.”
Despite the rigorous demands of his naval duties, Abiola remained resolute in meeting his personal goals. He credited his strong dedication and financial targets as key motivations.

“I used to be at work from Mondays to Saturdays most times, and all my contents still used to be out there. In a week, I used to post twice or three a week” he added.
“I’m a very dedicated person because I know that I’m supposed to meet a target in my revenue. I have a target for myself, and I used that to motivate myself to make more than I made the previous month.”
Abiola’s commitment to his dual roles eventually led to a pivotal decision to fully pursue his dreams in entertainment. In November 2022, his resignation from the Navy was formally approved by the Chief of Naval Staff, granting him the freedom to focus entirely on his creative career.
“I was overwhelmed with regard to the approval of my exit from the Navy by the Chief of Naval Staff so as for me to have enough time to passionately pursue my dreams,” he stated.
The popular skitmaker has also been featured in several Nollywood movies since leaving the Nigerian Navy. He has featured in blockbuster movies such as “Finding Me”, “Everybody Loves Jenifa” and so on.
