Music producer and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has sparked laughter online with a bizarre yet humorous story about a food vendor who attempted to trade a plate of Nkwobi for his top artiste, Rema.
In a video shared on his verified Instagram page, Don Jazzy explained why he generally avoids accepting gifts from fans or vendors, noting that such gestures sometimes come with unexpected and unrealistic expectations.
He recounted how a local food vendor had offered him a free plate of Nkwobi—a popular Igbo delicacy—which he gladly accepted and enjoyed.
However, the situation quickly took an amusing turn when the same vendor later requested a rather shocking favour in return: she wanted Don Jazzy to release Rema to her.
Expressing his surprise and amusement, the music mogul questioned the logic of such an exchange and jokingly pondered the “exchange rate” between a bowl of Nkwobi and a global music star like Rema.

“Okay, guys, we need to talk about this — this is exactly why I don’t like collecting free stuff,” he began.
“You’re selling nkwobi, then out of nowhere you give me free nkwobi. I didn’t ask, but you insisted. I accept it, eat it, and enjoy it.“Now suddenly, you want me to return the favour — you’re asking me to give you Rema? Because of free nkwobi? How does that even add up? It’s the exchange rate for me!”
Laughing at the absurdity of the request, Don Jazzy used the moment to warn fans and well-wishers to refrain from giving him unsolicited gifts.
“Please, nobody should give me gifts again. I’m not interested. Thanks and goodbye,” he concluded.
The story has since gone viral, with fans and social media users reacting with amusement to Don Jazzy’s witty take on the unusual situation. Many praised his humour and humility, while others joked about what they would be willing to trade for a celebrity encounter.
