Former Marlian Records signee, Fabian Blu, has spoken out about his harrowing experience under the controversial music label led by Naira Marley.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Fabian revealed that his time at the label exposed him to drug abuse and a dangerous lifestyle he was not prepared for.
He joined Marlian Records in 2020 but left in 2022, the same year the late singer Mohbad departed, after his contract expired. Despite officially exiting the label, Fabian claimed that Marlian Records still owed him royalties from the past five years and had not paid him a dime.
He recounted how his attempts to recover his earnings were met with mockery from Naira Marley himself.
“I confronted Naira Marley about my money, and when I threatened legal action, he just laughed,” Fabian recalled.

Beyond financial exploitation, Fabian detailed the abuse and discrimination he endured while signed to the label. He alleged that he was verbally and physically mistreated, ostracized due to his ethnicity and religion, and dismissed as a “lazy artist” because he was neither Yoruba nor Muslim.
Fabian also described the poor living conditions he faced in the accommodation provided by Marlian Records. According to him, when he sought support from his mother, he was forcibly removed from the studio.
“I got introduced to drugs in Marlian Music. They were too gangster for me,” he revealed. “I left the label the same month Mohbad left, and they spread rumors that I was mad.
Fabian’s revelations add to the growing list of allegations against Marlian Records, which has faced increasing scrutiny over its treatment of artists.
On 30 December 2019, Naira Marley announced the launch of his record label Marlian Records and unveiled CBlvck, Zinoleesky, and Fabian Blu as signed acts.
