A Federal Government panel has uncovered that popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, served his six-month prison sentence with a range of privileges not typically afforded to other inmates.
The panel, which was tasked with investigating bribery allegations surrounding Bobrisky, made these revelations during a report presented at the Ministry of Interior.
According to Uju Agomoh, a panel member, Bobrisky’s sentence, served between April 12 and August 5, 2024, included transfers between several custodial centers, starting at the Kuje Custodial Centre and ending at the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Kirikiri, Lagos.
Agomoh confirmed that the crossdresser had access to an array of luxuries, including a furnished single cell, a humidifier, refrigerator, television, and frequent family visits. It was also noted that Bobrisky had inmates assigned to run errands for him, and there is speculation that he may have had access to a mobile phone.
The panel found that the decision to transfer Bobrisky to a maximum-security facility as a first-time offender violated Section 164A and Section 164B of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act of 2019.
Agomoh also highlighted that such privileges created an imbalance in the treatment of inmates, with the panel recommending reforms to prevent discriminatory practices based on socio-economic status. “Steps should be taken to avoid the obvious discriminatory practices in relation to the socio-economic levels and other status of inmates,” she stated.

These revelations followed claims made by popular blogger Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who alleged in viral videos that Bobrisky had bribed correctional officers with millions of naira to secure preferential treatment.
Otse also alleged that Bobrisky paid ₦15 million to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officers to avoid money laundering charges linked to his naira-spraying incident.
Although Bobrisky has denied these allegations, the probe has led to the suspension of several Nigerian Correctional Service officers, and the investigation remains ongoing.
In a new twist, Bobrisky was arrested today by Nigerian Immigration Service officers at the Seme border, reportedly attempting to flee the country.
His arrest comes as the investigation into his prison privileges and bribery allegations continues to gain traction, adding another layer to the unfolding drama.
