Eric Chelle was born in Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire, Abidjan precisely to an Ivorian father and a Malian mother. He holds a dual citizenship.
Chelle is not just a manager he was first a footballer, he played for Mali national team and he was a central defender. He spent most of his playing career in France. He played for clubs such as Valenciennes, Lens, Istres, and Chamois Niortais.
After his retirement from playing, he transitioned into coaching, managing clubs like GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne, and MC Oran. He was appointed the manager of the head coach of France in 2020. He led the team to the
quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
He has a managerial record of 67 won games, 40 drawn 40, and 41 loses which cumulates to a win percentage of 45.27%. his playing style can be said to be strong aerial ability, which is an attribute he seeks to instill in his teams.
