Renowned Nigerian guitarist Ifiok Effanga, popularly known as Fiokee, is grieving the tragic loss of his sister, who was a victim of domestic abuse.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Fiokee shared his devastation and emphasized the importance of speaking out against abuse.
“My heart is shattered. I can’t believe I’m writing this, but my sister is gone. She was taken from us by someone who claimed to love her. I had no idea she was suffering in silence. She never spoke about the abuse, and now it’s too late,” he wrote.
He continued, “If you are in an abusive relationship, please, I beg you, speak up. I know it’s not easy. I know fear can make you stay quiet. But silence can be deadly. There are people who care, people who will help you. Please don’t wait until it’s too late.”
Fiokee vowed to seek justice for his sister, acknowledging that no punishment can bring her back. “Justice will take its course, but no amount of punishment will bring my sister back. If this message can save even one life, then her death will not be in vain. Rest in peace, my love. I will miss you forever. Emrich Effanga,” he concluded.

Fiokee, born on January 10, 1982, in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, is celebrated for his distinctive guitar solos that blend highlife and Afrobeats. Over his career, he has collaborated with prominent artists such as Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Patoranking, and Flavour. In 2016, he founded Fiokee Records, further solidifying his influence in the Nigerian music industry.
