Tanzanian singer Juma Jux has stirred up fresh controversy after revealing that it wasn’t easy to convince his wife, Priscilla Ojo, to convert to Islam before their widely publicised wedding.
In an interview with Afrik Media, Jux opened up about the emotionally charged process that preceded their union. Priscilla, daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, reportedly embraced Islam ahead of their glamorous East-West African wedding ceremony — a decision that, according to Jux, came after months of guidance, persuasion, and prayer.
“It was a little difficult convincing my wife to become a Muslim,” Jux confessed. “I was receiving lessons from religious leaders, so there was a way that they were teaching me about how to convince her, and with time, she understood.”

The singer described the conversion not just as a personal milestone, but as a spiritual moment he had long envisioned. “I knew everything when it came to my wedding. I had a dream about it. I was so lucky to find someone who wants the same thing as I do,” he added.
The couple’s wedding, which captivated fans across Nigeria and Tanzania, has been both celebrated and critiqued. On social media, reactions ranged from congratulatory messages to raised eyebrows, with one Instagram user even questioning Priscilla about her husband’s background.
Despite the noise, the couple remains united, often sharing intimate moments and words of gratitude to fans and family alike.Jux’s revelation has reignited public discourse on religious conversion in interfaith relationships, particularly involving celebrities.
Critics have questioned the influence of love over faith, and whether the change was from genuine conviction or emotional persuasion.Still, the couple seems unfazed by the controversy.
