Former Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo who earlier stated the importance of the World Cup to Victor Osimhen, has come out to praise the team despite the loss. The Super Eagles of Nigeria put out a disappointing performance in front of their home fans.
They were forced to a 1-1 draw in the Matchday six clash which took place in Uyo. Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock on 74 minute of the game. When it seems like they will grab all three point the equalizer came and the game ended 1-1.
The result means the AFCON 2023 runners-up remain in fourth place on seven points and are now six points behind leaders of Group C South Africa. South Africa in their own game beat Benin Republic 2-0 in Abidjan. Now, reacting to the result Omeruo wrote on X: “Well done boys… we are almost there.. unlucky with the late goal.. #Believe.”
