English Premier League top Liverpool met the end of their UEFA Champions League pursuit last night when they welcomed France top side PSG. The Premier League side lost their hope of winning a treble this season. They are already in the finals in the Carabao Cup and top of the league.
They beat PSG when they travelled to France last week despite all attempts from PSG their goalkeeper saved the day for them. Paris Saint-Germain travelled to Anfield with revenge on their mind as the coach Luis Enrique had ealier said they deserved to win.
Paris Saint-Germain was able to beat the home team 1-0 and forced the game to an extra time after they played 1-1 on aggregate. The penalty shootout came out handy for the visitors as they edged passed The Reds 4-1 to book their place in the quarter finals.
According to records, it is the first time in history Liverpool is been eliminated from a major European tournament after winning the first leg away from home. The Reds attention will now shift to the Premier League where they are 15 points ahead of Arsenal in the league table.
Also, they will need to brace up as soon as possible as they have Newcastle United to play final with in the Carabao Cup this weekend.
