Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Lyta, born Babatunde Rahim, has issued a heartfelt warning to his fans: stream his old songs or risk not getting any new music.
In a recent TikTok livestream, the former YBNL signee expressed deep frustration over the lack of support for his music, revealing that he is facing financial difficulties.
“I can do more good music. But if you don’t stream my music, I won’t drop another one. I’m in need of money,” Lyta said, candidly sharing the toll of being underappreciated despite his efforts.
He lightened the mood with a bit of humor, saying, “Look at how I’m looking [slim]. I want to gain weight. Let me enjoy your money a little. If you stream my music, I will add weight.”
Lyta, who rose to fame in 2018 after signing with Olamide’s YBNL Nation, parted ways with the label in May 2019 following a disagreement. Since then, his music career has experienced several ups and downs.

In December 2023, Lyta publicly pleaded to return to YBNL, admitting his decision to leave wasn’t well thought out.
“I want to be back with YBNL. What I did back then [leaving YBNL Nation] wasn’t intentional. I didn’t hear from Olamide before leaving and after I left, he just locked up,” he said.
Despite the fallout, he disclosed that he and Olamide have exchanged messages since. “I chatted with him via Instagram on his birthday and he responded,” Lyta added, showing there’s still some line of communication between them.
