Manchester United started the 2025/26 season on a bad note as they lost to Arsenal 1-0 at Old Trafford. The team may have lost, but it’s fair to say they have really improved.
Manchester United Suffer first loss to the hands of Arsenal
The Red Devils dominated the Gunners for large periods of the game and will feel hard done by not having earned at least a point. But despite all, it was their old foe, the corner kick, that hurt them.

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir’s horrific effort at trying to punch clear an Arsenal set-piece saw Riccardo Calfiori nod home from two yards out. The goal became the ultimate winning goal.
The Gunners didn’t create much after that, but they didn’t need to as their defence pulled through to win them the game.
Manchester United have now lost their opening Premier League home game in three of the last six seasons (W3), having only lost their first match at Old Trafford in two of their first 28 campaigns in the competition (W21 D5).
