Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku has advised women to focus on self-development and skill acquisition rather than solely pursuing physical enhancements like Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery.
In a post on her Instagram page on Friday, Njoku emphasized that beauty is no longer exclusive, as financial resources can easily transform one’s appearance.
However, she stressed that true individuality and long-term success come from intellectual growth and personal development.
“But here’s the thing: Beauty isn’t rare anymore. It’s not a big deal to be beautiful. Anyone with money can alter their look,” she wrote.
“What will truly make you stand out is your mind. Develop your brain. Invest in your skills. Build your knowledge. While you can buy a new body, you can’t buy a new brain. BBL is basically buy one, get one free.”
The actress cautioned that while cosmetic procedures might enhance physical appeal, they should not replace the pursuit of knowledge and self-improvement. She encouraged women to balance their investments in beauty with intellectual and emotional growth.
“You can’t alter your brain, but you can develop it. So while you’re busy getting a nose job and buying new boobs, make sure you set aside some budget for your personal growth,” Njoku advised. “Because a BBL without a brain? That’s a disaster waiting to happen. SUBSTANCE over SURFACE.”
Her message has sparked discussions on social media, with many praising her for advocating a well-rounded approach to self-improvement. Some users echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the importance of education, career growth, and financial independence in addition to physical appearance.
Mary Njoku, a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, is known for her outspoken views on industry matters and societal issues. She has previously raised concerns about Nollywood guilds and associations, as well as outlined plans for her production company, ROK Studios.
