Newcastle United humbled Arenal in front of their fans in the leg of the Carabao Cup to give them an upper hand. The Gunners suffered their first defeat in the year 2025 in front their fans.
It was the semi-final first leg at the Emirates and their hope of winning treble is now in doubt. It is now two wins against Arsenal this season for Newcastle United, who had edged out the Gunners earlier in the season in the Premier League.
Arsenal went all out to at least reduce the deficit but could not find a way past a resolute Newcastle defence. They will now hope to turn things around in the second leg at St. James’ Park on 5 February.
