Nollywood actor Nonso Diobi has set the record straight on longstanding rumors of rivalry with fellow actor Mike Ezuruonye.

In an interview with Labista, Diobi discussed their similar appearances, frequent fan confusion, and their on-screen partnership.

Reflecting on their beginnings, Diobi noted that he joined the industry before Ezuruonye and shared a significant moment when they starred together in Ezuruonye’s debut film.

According to Diobi, their physical resemblance caused ongoing misidentifications by fans. “Photogenically, we look alike a lot. Sometimes, when I see a poster with Mike on it, if I don’t look closely, I think it’s me. It happened to me a lot, and it happened to him too,” Diobi explained.

Initially, these mix-ups were frustrating, but Diobi and Ezuruonye found a way to turn the confusion into a strength. By embracing their similarities, they convinced directors to cast them together, delivering memorable performances that highlighted their chemistry.

Addressing fan-driven rivalry narratives, Diobi clarified that both actors view the comparisons as a bond rather than competition. “Just the way fans feel about us, we feel the same way too. At first, it was difficult, but we made it work and turned it into a bond,” he said.

Diobi’s candid comments have been well-received, with fans praising his maturity and willingness to celebrate collaboration over rivalry.

This interview sheds light on how two prominent figures turned a potentially divisive situation into a unique and enduring partnership in Nollywood.
