The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), General Overseer Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye publicly endorsed a modern rendition of a timeless Christian hymn, “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus,” remixed by gospel Afro-fusion artist Gaise Baba.
During his sermon, Pastor Adeboye introduced the song to the congregation, highlighting its significance and new expression through Gaise Baba’s version.
“We are going to be singing a song that we used to sing when I was young and has now been made popular by somebody who, how would I call it, remodeled it. It’s a song that says I have decided to follow Jesus. You are going to sing it with total determination—let it be your song for the rest of your life,” he said.
The recognition left Gaise Baba emotional and grateful. Taking to social media, the artist called the endorsement a divine gift. “God crowned my birthday last night with a most AMAZING GIFT, to Him be ALL the Glory!!!!” he wrote.

Gaise Baba, born Akinade Ibuoye, is a Nigerian gospel Afro-fusion artist celebrated for his innovative blend of music styles and bold lyrical expressions.
Known for fusing Yoruba, English, and Nigerian Pidgin in his music, Gaise Baba pushes the boundaries of traditional gospel by integrating Afrobeat, hip-hop, and highlife sounds into spiritually rooted messages.
Emerging on the music scene with his debut album Gaisebaba in 2011, he quickly gained attention for his lyrical depth, conscious themes, and refusal to conform to mainstream gospel stereotypes. His songs often tackle personal struggles, faith, identity, and societal transformation.
Gaise Baba has stirred conversations with tracks that blend ministry and music, one of which is No Turning Back—his reimagining of the global Christian hymn I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.
The song’s fresh, edgy style has appealed to a younger Christian audience, while also drawing criticism from conservative corners for its bold delivery.
With Pastor Adeboye’s recent public endorsement, Gaise Baba’s influence in the gospel music space has gained a significant boost—cementing his role as a modern-day voice for faith-driven artistry in Nigeria and beyond.
