Renowned Fuji musician Wasiu Alabi, popularly known as Pasuma, narrowly escaped an attack by suspected thugs in Ikire, Osun State, on Friday, May 16, 2025.
According to reports and a widely circulated video, the attack took place while Pasuma and his crew were in town for a scheduled performance.
The footage showed the aftermath, featuring a black bus with Pasuma’s image and a white Toyota Hilux riddled with what appeared to be bullet and stone damage.
In the background of the video, a voice—believed to belong to one of Pasuma’s crew members—described the chaos that ensued.
Speaking in Pidgin English, the individual said: “Kasala don burst for Ikire. They don attack us. This is Pasuma’s car. They carry gun shoot us, but God dey.”
Despite the apparent severity of the incident, Pasuma later took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to reassure fans and well-wishers that he and his team were unharmed.

“Myself and the entire crew are safe and sound. I appreciate everyone for reaching out. THANK YOU ALL #OneLove,” he posted.
Wasiu Alabi Pasuma is a household name in the Nigerian music scene, especially within the Fuji genre. With a career spanning over three decades, he is not only known for his energetic performances but also for his deep connection with fans across Nigeria and beyond.
His music blends traditional Fuji rhythms with modern influences, making him a favourite across age groups and cultural backgrounds.
This latest incident adds to a growing concern about the safety of performers during local engagements, particularly in areas where security challenges are increasingly reported.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the Osun State Police Command regarding the incident. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and it is yet to be determined if it was a targeted assault or random violence.
