Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb ‘Portable’ Okikiola, was arraigned on Thursday, February 19, at the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, over allegations of assault.
The 30-year-old was declared wanted for allegedly attacking officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).
His arrest followed multiple ignored police invitations after the detention and arraignment of nine of his protégés earlier in the month.
Portable faced a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, unlawful restriction, and conduct likely to cause harm. He was also accused of being armed with cutlasses and guns during the incident.

After pleading not guilty, his counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, appealed for bail, assuring the court that the singer had learned his lesson and was now remorseful.
Magistrate O.L. Oke granted him bail set at N2 million with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to March 5 for trial. His protégés, who faced similar charges, were arraigned on February 6.
Portable has been in a series of controversies since his breakthrough. The ‘Zazu’ crooner has clashed with celebrities such as Davido, Olamide, Bobrisky, and girlfriend, Queen Dammy who is one of the wives of the late Alaafia of Oyo.
The singer was also in the news in 2024 for slapping a pastor who has preached in the area where his bar (which has been sealed now by the Ogun State government) is situated.
