Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has come under heavy criticism after openly admitting that he is willing to sell his vote in the forthcoming 2027 general election.
In a viral video, the singer first asked his fans if they had collected their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) before making a startling revelation about his own approach to the election.
“Anybody wey give me money na who I go follow. Anybody wey fit help our life,” Portable declared.
The street-hop star went further to explain his stance in Yoruba, saying: “If APC brings money first, APC owns me. If PDP brings money first, I will collect. Even if it’s Peter Obi that pays first, I’ll tell my fans to follow him; to vote for him.”
Portable justified his decision by pointing out that he could not support anyone while hungry. “Vote for anybody wey you like, vote for your helper, vote for who give you money,” he concluded.
His remarks have sparked outrage across social media, with many Nigerians criticizing him for openly endorsing vote-selling. Several users reminded him that, as a public figure with a large youth following, he should be setting an example rather than encouraging transactional politics.
This is not the first time Portable has stirred public debate with his outspoken views. Known for his street credibility and brash personality, the singer frequently uses his platform to comment on politics, crime, and societal issues. In the past, he has publicly supported politicians, criticized government policies, and boasted about his influence over youths and street culture.
