As Donald Trump gears up to take office as the 47th U.S. President, Nigerian fashion designer Yomi Casual has a stern warning for fellow citizens: renew your U.S. visa now before it’s too late.
With the results of the 2024 election solidifying Trump’s return to the White House, Yomi, known for his influence in the Nigerian fashion world, is urging Nigerians to act quickly in anticipation of the former president’s tough immigration policies.
The warning from Yomi Casual, shared via social media, comes amid widespread concern over Trump’s campaign promises to radically restrict immigration.

Trump’s campaign had attracted strong support from American voters frustrated with economic challenges, ultimately defeating Vice President Kamala Harris. His win was further bolstered by endorsements from high-profile figures like tech mogul Elon Musk.

In his previous term, Trump had introduced stringent immigration measures, and his proposed reforms this time around are expected to go even further.
Among his promised changes are plans to end programs like Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status, which provide relief to millions of undocumented immigrants.
Trump has also signaled an intent to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, potentially fast-tracking deportations of individuals linked to gang activities or cartels. Additionally, his policy proposals include reducing parole and work permits for unauthorized immigrants.
For Nigerians and other foreign nationals, Trump’s victory suggests an uncertain future. Responses to Yomi’s post reveal mixed feelings, with some Nigerians sharing his concerns and others hoping for leniency in Trump’s policies.
One user, Abosede Nkechi, commented, “This is good advice, because during Trump’s last tenure it was very hard to get a U.S. visa.”
Meanwhile, another, Stella Samuel, expressed optimism, saying, “I love Daddy Donald Trump … I know he will allow me to finish my studies in the USA.”
These statements reflect the anxiety many non-citizens feel about potential policy shifts under Trump, particularly regarding visas, student privileges, and access to work opportunities.
