Portugal has done it once again as they beat their neighbours Spain in a penalty shootout to lift the 2024/25 Nations League title. The game ended in a stalemate and was forced to extra time before going into penalty shootout Munich.
The first goal came in the first 25 minute of the game after Martín Zubimendi opened the scoring for Spain in the first 21st of the game. Portugal did not relent as they came out to play and got a goal almost immediately. Champions League winner Nuno Mendes got the equalizer just four minutes after Spain opener.

Spain later got back in front through Mikel Oyarzabal in the 45th minute of the game just before half time break. The moved into the halftime break with Spain leading. Upon returning for second half, Portugal did not relent again and their effort soon yielded result.
Cristiano Ronaldo pulled them level at 2-2 in the 61st minute, but there was nothing else to separate the two sides when the referee signalled the end of normal time. Ronaldo was subbed off in before the end of the game but the 40 year old player had made his mark already.

It was a rather bad night for Spain star boy Limel Yamal as Nune Mendes completely marked him off. After the extra time whistle they headed for a penalty shoot out and it went in Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal side. They had five of their players covert their penalties while Alvaro Morata missed for Spain to make it 5-3. This is the second Nations League trophy for Portugal and Ronaldo.
