Controversial Nigerian show promoter, Sam Larry, has finally spoken out regarding his alleged involvement in the events leading to the tragic death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
In a recent tell-all interview with social media activist Verydarkman, Sam Larry addressed the backlash and viral speculation that followed a short video clip showing him confronting Mohbad at a beach.
The video, which resurfaced after the singer’s death in September 2023, stirred widespread outrage, with many accusing Sam Larry of harassment.
Breaking nearly two years of silence, Sam Larry insisted that the incident was grossly misunderstood and taken out of context.
“That video was just 9 seconds. I was with my son at the beach. When I saw Mohbad, I walked up to him and demanded my money for a show he didn’t show up for. Zlatan was there and quickly stepped in to resolve it. There was no assault,” he said.
The promoter emphasized that the confrontation had nothing to do with physical violence, stressing that it was merely a financial disagreement.
When questioned on why rapper Zlatan Ibile, who was present during the altercation, never publicly confirmed that no harm was done to Mohbad, Sam Larry claimed the rapper was warned against speaking up.
“Zlatan say if hin talk, say blood go comot for hin mouth,” he alleged.
Addressing further speculation about his whereabouts during the time of Mohbad’s death, Sam Larry disclosed that he was out of the country.
“I was in Dubai when Mohbad died. Naira Marley was in Amsterdam,” he stated.
