Nigerian singer Oludipe David, widely known as Spyro, has revealed his performance fee in Nigeria, stating he charges a minimum of N20 million.
The artist shared this during an interview with Echo Room, shedding light on his financial standards and an incident involving music artist manager Ubi Franklin.
During the interview, Spyro disclosed details of a disagreement with Ubi Franklin over performance payment.
According to Spyro, Ubi approached him with a proposal for a performance at fellow musician Iyanya’s birthday party, where Spyro and Davido were billed to perform.
However, the payment terms sparked controversy. Spyro explained, “Davido was supposed to perform, and Ubi came to tell me that after Davido’s set, we should perform too, and he would pay us N5,000 each. I called him aside and said, ‘Bro, I don’t charge N5,000. The least I charge in Nigerian currency is N20 million.’’

Despite the disagreement, Spyro proceeded with the performance due to the high-profile nature of the event.
“When I got there, Davido was on stage. As soon as he stepped down, I was called up immediately. I couldn’t decline at that moment because there were lots of dignitaries there. Afterward, I had to sort it out with Ubi regarding my pay,” he added.
This revelation highlights Spyro’s commitment to maintaining his professional worth and setting a standard in the Nigerian music industry.
Ubi Franklin, often referred to as Davido’s personal assistant, has yet to respond to Spyro’s claims.
