Super Eagles of Nigeria and Barnsley star player Kelechi Nwakali have fallen into another trouble. According to reports the pkayer reported to his club late and so his club Barnsley manager Conor Hourihane asked him not to come back.
The 26-year-old, once tipped as one of Nigeria’s brightest prospects, has again found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Kelechi missed all his club’s pre season games.

It was said that his absence was due to a “family matter” in Nigeria which was not resolved on time. Barnsley ran out of patience with the player and terminated his contracted.
Kelechi Nwakali, who signed a three-year deal with Barnsley in August 2024, did not featured in any of the club’s pre-season or early fixtures.
Reacting to that the club said it was a short but decisive message. Nwakali’s absence and lack of involvement during pre-season sealed his fate. Despite making 26 appearances for the club last season, his stock has declined rapidly.
This has become a pattern for the Nigerian’s most notable spell in Europe ended acrimoniously.
The club terminated his contract in April 2022, with Nwakali accusing them of ill-treatment and pressure not to attend the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria which was traced to almost the incident as this one. He did not resume camp on time despite not playing the tournament.
Barnsley looked like a fresh start but quickly soured following his unexplained absence. The club have chosen to move forward without him.
