It was a great day of joy for Super Eagles of Nigerian players in Southampton. Paul Onuachu and Joe Aribo both scored to end their club’s winless run in the English Premier League. It was Southampton’s first Premier League victory since November and all thanks goes to the two Super Eagles players.

While Saints remain anchored to the bottom of the table with just nine points after playing 24 games, the win ended a six consecutive top-flight defeats. It was also the first time they are taking all three points since the appointment of their coach Ivan Juric in December.

The visitors had opened the scoring in the first half when Joe Aribo’s bouncing first-time effort deceived home goalkeeper Arijanet Muric. Liam Delap soon levelled the scores for the hosts before the break. It looked like they were going to draw the game but winner finally came.
Ivan Juric made a superb substitution bringing in Super Eagles star Paul Onuachu, the striker came and became a super sub as he scored the winning goal. Juric’s team also deserve credit for claiming only their second win of the season.
