Nigerian street-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The singer pleads for the President to intervene after the Ogun State government sealed his uncompleted building and hotel.
The government reportedly took action due to alleged illegal development without proper approval. The singer, known for his controversial persona, expressed frustration over the move, emphasizing that he has made significant contributions to the state.
Portable, in an emotional plea, urged Tinubu to intercede on his behalf with Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. He argued that his investments and efforts to improve infrastructure in the state should be considered.
“I installed streetlights, I worked on roads, and I have always supported my people. Why are they doing this to me?” he lamented.
Despite the setback, the singer remained deferential in his appeal, stating:
“Dapo Abiodun, your time in office wouldn’t spoil. After God, na government. Zazuu, I dey humble.”
Portable Bar: The Controversial Hub in Ogun State
One of the properties sealed by the Ogun State government includes Portable’s entertainment spot, popularly known as “Portable Bar.”
The venue, located in Sango Ota, Ogun State, has been a hotspot for nightlife, attracting fans and locals. However, it has also been linked to multiple controversies, including allegations of noise pollution, law enforcement clashes, and unregulated operations.
The government’s decision to seal the property has sparked mixed reactions, with some residents supporting the move, citing regulatory concerns, while others argue that the singer is being unfairly targeted.
Portable’s Growing List of Public Clashes
This is not the first time the self-proclaimed “wahala musician” has been at odds with the authorities.
His previous run-ins include altercations with the police, public feuds with fellow artists, and legal battles over alleged misconduct.
While the Ogun State government has yet to issue an official statement on whether Portable will be allowed to reclaim his property, the singer has vowed to fight for what he believes is rightfully his.
