Nigerian Star Thrown Out of Club After Fall-out with Coach

Super Eagles of Nigerian star player Gift Orban has been given to German side TSG Hoffeheim by club side Olympic Lyon. The former KAA Gent forward is expected to undergo medicals at TSG Hoffeheim this week. The Bundesliga club reached an agreement with Olympic Lyon for his signature so he is expected to be there soonest.

Gift Orban will join the club on a permanent transfer basis, the new club will pay approximately €9m as a fixed fee including bonuses. Ligue 1 side, RC Lens was also interested in the young striker but failed to meet Lyon’s price tag.

21-year-old jpined the Ligue 1 side Lyon from Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent in January 2023. Orban had a slow start in his first season at Lyon,scoring only one league goal in 13 league appearances.

He however scored twice in three appearances in the Coupe de France. On his first appearance in the 2024–25 season, he came off the bench with Lyon trailing 3–2 against Strasbourg and scored twice in nine minutes.

It is reported that the player had a fell out with Lyon coach which is why they are letting him go. The fall out is not really known yet but we wish the player the best of luck in his new club.
