Popular Nollywood actress and reality TV star Bamike Olawunmi Adebuyan, better known as BamBam, has called out the Nigerian police.
The screen diva called out the police over an unsettling encounter in which an officer allegedly pressured her into giving him money.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), BamBam recounted how she was stopped by a police officer on her way home from a movie set. According to her, there was no valid reason for the stop, yet she and her assistant were ordered to step out of the vehicle.
The officer, whom she described as “inappropriate and forceful,” repeatedly asked her to “show him love” before she eventually yielded to his demands.“
He could have asked from the car window, but my assistant and I were already outside. We couldn’t just drive off, so I was forced to give something,” she wrote.
Expressing her frustration, the BBNaija star questioned why law enforcement officers, meant to protect citizens, make people feel unsafe. She emphasized that there is a difference between voluntary tipping out of appreciation and officers feeling entitled to money while failing to perform their duties with integrity.
“We shouldn’t see the police and feel uncomfortable but safe. Asking and demanding are two different things,” she added.

BamBam’s revelation has reignited conversations about police extortion in Nigeria, with many social media users sharing similar experiences.
Amidst the controversy, BamBam continues to make waves in Nollywood. Her latest featured movie by Omoni Oboli titled “Love in Every Word” which also have Uzor Arukwe as co-lead actor has got many talking for their brilliant performances.
