Nigerian social media has erupted once again following the recent arrest of popular crossdresser, Bobrisky, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
Just as he was boarding a flight to London, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) intercepted and detained him, marking yet another chapter in the controversial figure’s ongoing legal troubles.
The incident, however, gained even more attention when photos emerged showing Bobrisky with Isaac Fayose at the airport, sparking an online frenzy.
Fans and critics alike took to X, formerly Twitter, to air their thoughts. Some speculated that the public photo may have tipped off the authorities to Bobrisky’s travel plans, while others criticized his tendency to share personal information.
User @callme_Riken remarked, “He should have told Mr. Isaac not to post that picture yet but no, cos Bobrisky wants the whole world to know he’s leaving Nigeria.”
For some, the arrest was another sign of Bobrisky’s missteps, with many believing his frequent oversharing on social media has made him an easy target.
User @iam_akanni pointed out, “All d problems Bobrisky is passing through are self-inflicted. He talks too much. People who talk too much, have no secret.”
Another user, @NwokeAkwaeze, added, “This year no just go well for brother Bob,” capturing the sentiment of those who feel that 2023 has been an unfortunate year for the internet star.

The controversy, however, didn’t stop at Bobrisky. Some used the incident to comment on broader issues within the country.
User @EjioforBar highlighted what he felt was a distraction from more significant issues, stating, “While Nigerians were busy being distracted… the real enemies of this country… were smartly and clandestinely trying to smuggle in a BILL TO EXPAND ISLAMIC LAWS IN NIGERIA.”
The airport arrest has further polarized opinions on Bobrisky’s public life, with some attributing his woes to poor decisions, while others used it as a mirror reflecting the country’s unique cultural tensions.
User @TruthAposTie wrote, “Idris should hold Bobrisky responsible for all he is passing through.”
Despite mixed reactions, one thing remains clear: Bobrisky’s arrest has once again thrust him into the spotlight. His lifestyle and public persona continue to spark widespread debate, revealing Nigeria’s complex cultural and social divides in real-time on social media.
For now, Nigerians will be watching closely to see what unfolds next in Bobrisky’s rollercoaster of a year.
