Chelsea and Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk has expressed shock after he tested positive to a banned drug test. The player said he is in “complete shock” after testing positive for the substance.
Chelsea dropped a statement confirming that they been contacted by the Football Association (FA). The FA sent a notice to the club saying after an “adverse finding in a routine urine test” conducted the player they found him guilty.
The attacker, who has been provisionally suspended by the FA following the positive result, denies knowingly using a banned substance. Chelsea say they will work to establish what caused the failed test.
The player dropped a statement saying: “This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.”
Mudryk made the statement known via his Instagram page, he also said: “I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon.”
Under FA guidelines, players can be provisionally suspended from football following a positive drug test. The FA has however refused to comment on the player’s suspension.
Players found to have intentionally taken a banned substance can be banned for up to four years under Fifa guidelines. The player who has been struggling at Chelsea before and he is picking his form could be suspended.
It remains unclear what the long-term outcome will be for the winger as the FA go through due process. But if this turns out to be what it seems the player might end his career due to that.
