Nigerian singer Michael Adebayo, popularly known as Ruger, shared a heartfelt moment as he attended the 2025 crossover service at his childhood church, the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in Lagos.
The ‘Asiwaju’ crooner revealed he canceled scheduled performances to ensure he was part of the service, marking his first attendance since 2021.
Ruger explained that he missed the 2022 and 2023 services due to being abroad but was determined to prioritize his faith this time.
Speaking during the service, the artist recounted how he instructed his manager to cancel all conflicting shows.
“My manager texted me and told me I had one show tonight. I told him to cancel it because I didn’t care. I have to be in church,” Ruger said.
The singer described the experience as profoundly spiritual, revealing he shed tears for the first time in four years. Overwhelmed with emotion, he expressed gratitude to God, the congregation, and the church authorities for their role in his growth.
“I thank God. I have not cried in about four years. Today, I saw God again, and I cried. I thank God for my life. I thank God for everyone here. I thank God for everyone who has nurtured me since I started in this church,” Ruger shared.
The artist also praised the CCC for being a nurturing environment that has shaped great individuals, adding, “This is a very caring church. If this church were not great, great people would not come out of this church.”
